Vilebrequin has never forgotten its heritage: the brand is a product of the joy and freedom of the spirit of St-Tropez in the 1970s. Season after season, Vilebrequin promises elegance on vacation, passing on a lasting idea of casual charm, from father to son and mother to daughter.
The manufacture of a pair of swim shorts for men requires 32 steps. A Vilebrequin swim short does not feel like any other swimwear to the touch – it is soft and smooth. In 50 years, Vilebrequin has learned to master the art of men’s swimsuit, and make its models perfectly identifiable. On the iconic swimwear, two eyelets on the back ensure that they don’t swell in the water. On every Moorea man’s swimsuit, the drawstring is finished with stainless zamac tips.
Vilebrequin swimsuits are treated to dry quickly. The mesh lining used in the men’s swim trunks is seamless and made out of the softest fabric for optimal comfort. A flap pocket is cut out and placed by hand on the back of every pair of swim trunks for it to match perfectly with the rest of the print.
Did you know the year 2000 was the first appearance of the sea turtle, now an icon of the brand.
Somewhere on the road from Nîmes to St-Tropez, Yvette and Fred met, fell in love and opened their very first store. The year was 1971. Yvette had spent most of the 60s chasing down the latest fashions for her yé-yé-mad friends. Fueled by his love for motor racing, Fred had been busy seeing the world as a Formula 1 reporter.
50 years ago, we took the world on holiday and never looked back. Since taking the world by the boardshorts in 1971, our luxury swimwear brand has embodied the effortless elegance and carefree living synonymous with Saint-Tropez through our fun-loving prints and unparalleled craftsmanship.
